Jishui River
A lower-gradient river with strong agricultural connections; restoration can focus on nutrient reduction, buffers, and community access.
Key Issues
- Nutrient runoff (nitrate, phosphorus) from agriculture
- Low-flow stagnation spots affecting clarity
- Limited continuous riparian buffer in working landscapes
Targeted Actions
- Riparian buffer planting and farm-edge wetlands
- Off-channel storage to manage first-flush nutrients
- Seasonal swim coves tied to water quality thresholds
Pilot Swim + Access Sites
- Community river park with shaded seating and water steps
- Demonstration buffer farm with monitoring and tours

Safety + Water Quality Protocol
Public swimming will proceed in phases, based on water quality thresholds and onsite supervision. Pilot swim windows open only when recent tests meet safety criteria (E. coli GM ≤ 500 CFU/100 mL; no heavy rain in last 48 hours; turbidity and visibility acceptable). Transparent weekly reporting and onsite signage will communicate conditions.
